Paul Quinn Sweeps Tougaloo in Straight Sets, improves to 5–2 in HBCUAC Play

The Paul Quinn College Lady Tigers volleyball team delivered one of their most complete performances of the season Friday night, sweeping Tougaloo College (Miss.) dominantly (25–6, 25–17, 25–11) inside the Old PQC Gymnasium.
With the victory, Paul Quinn improved to 12–11 overall and 5–2 in HBCUAC play, while Tougaloo fell to 0–17 (0–6 HBCUAC).
Fast Start and Strong Finish
The Tigers came out on fire in the opening set, hitting a blistering .607 while holding Tougaloo to just six points. The team's momentum continued throughout the night, combining efficient offense, sharp serving, and disciplined defense to control every aspect of play.
Paul Quinn hit .337 for the match, compared to Tougaloo's -.042, and outscored the visitors 75–34 across three sets.
Offensive Leaders
Junior outside hitter Carrie Weston powered the Tigers' attack with 11 kills on .400 hitting, adding two blocks and 12 total points.
Freshman standout Laila Beck continued her breakout season with 8 kills (.571) and 2 block assists, while Jayden Jones and Airianna Pickens combined for 9 kills off the bench.
Setter Spirit Phipps was exceptional, recording 25 assists, while Laila Morrison added 10 more as Paul Quinn ran an efficient offensive system throughout the match.
Defensive and Serving Prowess
Defensively, Paul Quinn showcased teamwork and grit. A'Niyah Harrison anchored the back row with 18 digs and a team-leading 5 service aces, while Ashley Sanchez and Kaylin Chambers chipped in with 11 and 4 digs, respectively.
The Tigers finished the night with 50 total digs and 9 service aces, keeping Tougaloo off balance from start to finish.
