Paul Quinn Falls to Dillard in Straight Sets at Home
DALLAS, Texas, September 23, 2025 The Paul Quinn College volleyball team dropped a tough three-set match to visiting Dillard University on Monday afternoon, falling 3–0 (33–31, 25–16, 25–14) inside Tiger Gym. The loss moves the Tigers to 6–9 overall and 1–1 in conference play, while Dillard improves to 5–5, 3–1.
Paul Quinn started the match strong, pushing the Lady Bleu Devils to the brink in a marathon first set that ended 33–31. Despite the Tigers' resilience, Dillard closed out the frame and carried momentum into the next two sets, where Paul Quinn struggled offensively.
Carrie Weston led the Tigers with seven kills but was limited by 10 attack errors on 47 attempts. Jayden Jones and Jakayla Morrow chipped in four and five kills, respectively, while Makaila Piggee had one of the more efficient outings, finishing with five kills on .308 hitting and adding six block assists for a team-high 9.5 points.
Setter Spirit Phipps dished out 19 assists and added nine digs, while Ashley Sanchez anchored the back row with a team-best 14 digs and one ace. A'Niyah Harrison and Kaylin Chambers each added 10 digs, as Paul Quinn tallied 63 total as a team.
Despite the defensive effort, the Tigers hit just .028 as a group, recording 27 kills against 23 errors. Dillard, meanwhile, found its rhythm offensively, hitting .277 in the third set and finishing the match with 50 kills on .162 hitting.
The Lady Bleu Devils were led by Sarai Rogers, who posted a match-high 11 kills on .345 hitting, and Neveah Bax, who added 12 kills and 7 digs. Setter Nanyelis Sosa-Moreno controlled the offense with 23 assists, while libero Jasmyne Mumphrey kept the defense steady with 22 digs.
The loss marks the end of a two-match homestand for Paul Quinn, which will look to regroup as it continues conference play later this week.
