Paul Quinn Battles Hard but Falls to John Brown in Four Sets
Siloam Springs, Ark. August 22, 2025 Paul Quinn women’s volleyball showed grit and flashes of dominance, but host John Brown University proved too strong, handing the Tigers a 3–1 defeat Friday afternoon at Bill George Arena.
The loss drops Paul Quinn to 1–1 on the season, while John Brown improves to 1–0 after its home opener.

John Brown opened the match with precision, hitting an efficient .406 in the first set to win 25–19. Paul Quinn responded with energy in the second frame, using balanced offense and tough serving to edge out a 25–23 win and tie the match at 1–1.
Momentum shifted in the third set, where John Brown's depth at the net carried them to a 25–19 victory. The Golden Eagles closed out the match with a 25–23 win in the fourth, fending off a late rally from the Tigers.
Paul Quinn Leaders
Sophomore outside hitter Jakayla Morrow led the Tigers with 10 kills, while middle blocker Makaila Piggee had an outstanding night, posting seven kills on a .500 hitting percentage and adding a team-high eight blocks. Freshman Jamya Fields provided a spark off the bench, contributing seven kills on .583 hitting in just two sets.
Setter Spirit Phipps directed the offense with 21 assists and added 10 digs for a double-double performance. Defensively, Kaylin Chambers anchored the back row with a match-high 21 digs, while A'Niyah Harrison chipped in 12 digs and 5 kills.
The Tigers served aggressively, collecting eight aces, including three from Harrison and two each from Morrison and Beck.
John Brown Leaders
The Golden Eagles leaned on a balanced attack, with four players reaching double-digit kills. Emma-Kate Schaefer led the way with 16 kills on .371 hitting, while Reese Montgomery followed closely with 15 kills on a .423 clip. Clara Hyke and Kate Carlson added 10 apiece. Setter Taylor Kosmicki kept the offense flowing with 29 assists, and Libero Paige Addington anchored the defense with 15 digs.
