Brown’s double-double lifts Paul Quinn past Wiley, 73–64
DALLAS — Zaire Brown delivered a dominant performance in the paint, and Emery Black provided a key scoring spark off the bench as Paul Quinn pulled away in the fourth quarter to defeat Wiley (Texas) 73–64 on Thursday evening.
Brown finished with 13 points and 15 rebounds, anchoring the Tigers on both ends as Paul Quinn (10-3, 5-0) remained unbeaten in conference play. The Tigers used a decisive 25–11 advantage in the fourth quarter to turn a tight game into a comfortable win.
Black led Paul Quinn in scoring with 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting, adding three assists in 22 minutes. Canai McPherson chipped in 15 points, while Cierra Taylor filled the stat sheet with seven assists, six rebounds and six points.
Paul Quinn dominated the glass, outrebounding Wiley 56–49, and got to the free-throw line 38 times, converting 25 to keep pressure on the Wildcats throughout the night.
Wiley (9-3, 4-1) was paced by Moriah Burley, who scored 14 points and knocked down four 3-pointers. Alexis Foster added 12 points off the bench, while Kelechi Dike grabbed nine rebounds.
Despite Wiley forcing 26 turnovers, the Wildcats struggled to shoot consistently, finishing at 28.4% from the field and 28.1% from 3-point range, allowing Paul Quinn to control the game with defense and rebounding down the stretch.
