Roberts and Lady Tigers Pushes HBCUAC Record to 5-0
DALLAS — Paul Quinn College’s women’s basketball team extended its unbeaten conference run with an 83–52 victory over Huston-Tillotson on Saturday afternoon at the Health & Wellness Center.
Paul Quinn (10-3, 5-0) set the tone early, opening a 17–8 first-quarter lead and steadily widening the margin behind efficient shooting and control of the glass. The Tigers shot 47.5 percent from the field for the game and held Huston-Tillotson (3-6, 0-4) to 22.7 percent shooting.
Tamia Dolls led a balanced Paul Quinn attack with 17 points, knocking down 5 of 10 shots from the floor and 3 of 7 from beyond the arc while logging 39 minutes. Canai McPherson added 15 points, five assists and four steals, and Cierra Taylor contributed 14 points and four assists while going 6-for-8 at the free-throw line.
Zaire Brown posted another strong all-around performance with 10 points, a game-high 14 rebounds and three blocks, anchoring a Paul Quinn defense that forced 18 turnovers and recorded four blocks overall. Nyah Morgan provided a spark off the bench, scoring 12 points on 6-of-12 shooting and grabbing eight rebounds in 18 minutes.
Paul Quinn broke the game open in the third quarter, outscoring Huston-Tillotson 23–11 while shooting 58.3 percent in the period. The Tigers continued to build separation in the fourth quarter with a 28-point frame.
Huston-Tillotson was led by Wilashia Burleson's 14 points and six rebounds. Xaria Culver finished with 10 points and four steals, while Destiny Stanford added nine points and five assists. The Rams struggled to find consistency offensively, shooting 21.4 percent from three-point range and committing 22 personal fouls.
Paul Quinn will look to continue its conference momentum in its next outing, while Huston-Tillotson seeks its first league win.
