Paul Quinn’s Brown Emerging as Dominant Two-Way Force in Early Season
DALLAS — Nov. 18, 2025 — Six games into the season, Paul Quinn forward Zaire Brown has established herself as one of the most productive frontcourt players in the NAIA, delivering a blend of interior scoring, relentless rebounding, and steady leadership that has powered the Tigers’ strong 4–2 start.
Brown, a 6-foot senior, is averaging 17.2 points and 12.3 rebounds, one of the best double-double clips in the early national stat lines. She has started five of Paul Quinn's first six games and is shooting 51.2 percent from the field, anchoring the Tigers' interior attack with efficiency and physicality.
Her breakout performance came this week at Texas College, where she posted 18 points and 12 rebounds in a 67–56 win. It was her latest example of consistency, and for Brown, the numbers reflect a role she has steadily grown into.
"I'm just trying to bring energy every night," Brown said after the win. "Rebounding is something I can control, and that's where it all starts for me."
So far, she has controlled it better than almost anyone. Brown leads Paul Quinn with 74 total rebounds, including 36 offensive boards, giving the Tigers second-chance scoring in nearly every game. Her 12.3 rebounds per game rank among the top marks in the Historically Black College & University Athletic Conference (HBCUAC).
In Brown's most recent outing against Texas College, Brown scored 26 points on 13-of-18 shooting and grabbed 11 rebounds, playing 37 minutes. Her 72.2 percent field-goal percentage illustrates how difficult she has become to defend in the paint.
While Brown's scoring and rebounding stand out, her all-around presence has also grown. She has recorded 11 steals and three blocks, showing improved timing and positioning on the defensive end. Her effort has come with increased responsibility; she leads the team at 31.3 minutes per game, a workload that reflects the trust the coaching staff has placed in her.
Offensively, her ability to generate points around the rim has made her a matchup problem. Brown averages 21.9 points per 40 minutes, and in her last outing, those numbers jumped to 28.1, and that could be a sign that her best basketball may come as the schedule intensifies.
With Paul Quinn's defense trending upward and a balanced supporting cast emerging around her, Brown's early-season surge has positioned the Tigers as a rising contender as they move deeper into the winter slate.
"She's our anchor," head coach Roberts said. "When she plays with confidence, we play with confidence."
Through six games, that confidence has been unmistakable, and so has Brown's rise as one of Paul Quinn's most important players.
