Paul Quinn Men’s Soccer Draws 2–2 With Ave Maria in Exciting Home Match
DALLAS, Texas, September 13, 2025 The Paul Quinn College men’s soccer team earned a hard-fought 2–2 draw against visiting Ave Maria University on Saturday at Simpson Stuart Road Field. The result keeps the Tigers competitive in non-conference play, improving their record to 2–1-3.
Ave Maria struck first in the 43rd minute when Mateo Rolon scored an unassisted goal, giving the visitors a 1–0 lead heading into halftime. The Tigers responded just after the break, as Tahrick Smith found the back of the net in the 51st minute to even the score.
Paul Quinn took the lead in the 63rd minute when Amado Garcia converted a feed from Charlie Fisher, making it 2–1 in front of the home crowd. However, the lead was short-lived, as Sava Cadjenovic tied the match for Ave Maria in the 69th minute with an unassisted strike, setting the final score at 2–2.
The game was a defensive battle, with Paul Quinn's goalkeeper Andrew Martinez making 14 saves on 16 Ave Maria shots to keep the Tigers in the contest. Ave Maria's goalkeeper Andrija Vujakovic recorded two saves while allowing two goals.
Offensively, the Tigers managed eight shots, five on target, led by Smith, Garcia, and Bienvenie Bisimwa, each recording a shot on goal. Ave Maria took 16 shots with 10 on frame, showing their ability to pressure the Paul Quinn defense throughout the match.
Paul Quinn also had five corner kicks and committed 12 fouls, while Ave Maria held an 11–5 edge in corners and nine fouls. Yellow cards were issued to Paul Quinn's Amado Garcia and Juan Mendoza, and Ave Maria's Jose Jaquet and Luis Mendoza.
The draw preserves Paul Quinn's unbeaten streak at home and demonstrates the team's resilience in responding to early setbacks.
