King, Hicks power Paul Quinn past Wiley, 107–53
DALLAS — Mekhi Johnson and Jordan Hicks delivered efficient, high-impact performances as Paul Quinn rolled past Wiley (Texas) 107–53 on Wednesday night at the Health & Wellness Center.
The Tigers (5-8, 1-3) seized control early, erupting for 51 first-half points on 60.7% shooting and never allowing Wiley to settle in. Paul Quinn finished at 54.3% from the field and 50% from 3-point range (11 of 22), turning crisp ball movement into 25 assists and a decisive 51–33 rebounding edge.
Johnson was dominant in the paint and on the glass, going 8 of 10 from the floor for 18 points, pulling down eight rebounds, and adding six steals and two blocks to anchor the defense. His activity fueled multiple transition runs that pushed the lead well beyond reach.
Hicks provided the knockout punch off the bench, pouring in 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting while knocking down 4 of 6 from beyond the arc. His hot hand stretched the defense and ignited a second-half surge as Paul Quinn outscored Wiley 56–31 after the break.
John Harrison matched Hicks' scoring output with 19 points, hitting 3 of 6 from long range and a perfect 6 of 6 at the line, while also contributing eight rebounds and five assists. TJ Mitchell orchestrated the offense with nine assists, adding 12 points and five rebounds. Mekhi Johnson (18), Tayvion Fisher (15 points on 6-of-7 shooting), and Deon McLaughlin (11 points, six rebounds) gave the Tigers five players in double figures.
Wiley (1-11, 0-4) was led by Shamir Mosley's 15 points, but the Wildcats struggled to find rhythm, shooting 29.8% overall and 25.9% from 3-point range.
With balanced scoring, dominant rebounding, and relentless defense, Paul Quinn turned a fast start into a wire-to-wire rout, showcasing one of its most complete performances of the season.
