Paul Quinn Dominates Wesrgate Christian Behind Balanced, High-Octane Offense
DALLAS — Paul Quinn College erupted for a season-high 120 points Saturday afternoon, overwhelming Wesrgate Christian 120–70 at Paul Quinn College's Health & Wellness Center
The Tigers (3–6, 0–2) shot an even 50% from the field and placed six players in double figures, seizing control with a 53-24 first-half burst and never looking back.
Forward Mekhi Johnson powered Paul Quinn with a 22-point, 13-rebound double-double, dominating the paint while shooting 7-of-12 from the field and 8-of-10 at the free-throw line. Isaiah McCallum added 17 points and 10 rebounds, giving the Tigers a second double-double and steady inside presence.
Paul Quinn struck early from the perimeter as well. John Harrison finished with 10 points and two steals while hitting both of his 3-point attempts. Jordan Hicks came off the bench to score 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including four 3-pointers, helping stretch the lead in the second half.
The Tigers' defensive pressure fueled their transition game, forcing 23 turnovers and converting them into consistent fast-break opportunities. Paul Quinn also outrebounded Wesrgate Christian 56–44 and outscored the visitors 67–46 after halftime.
Wesrgate Christian (2–4) struggled early, shooting just 19.4% in the first half. Guard Tadarius Wade kept the Crusaders afloat, pouring in a game-high 36 points and knocking down 12 3-pointers, but he received little scoring help. Chase Crawford added nine points and 10 rebounds, while Jaylon Chappelle scored 12 points off the bench.
Paul Quinn continued to build its lead after the break, maintaining efficiency from the field while limiting Wesrgate Christian to one-and-done possessions. The Tigers finished with 22 assists and only nine turnovers in one of their most complete performances of the season.
Paul Quinn returns to conference play next week, seeking to build on the momentum from Saturday's offensive outburst.
